SUPREME COURT PASSES JUDGEMENT ON REVEREND KING......
The Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence handed down to the General Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly in Lagos, Rev. Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, also known as Reverend King.
The Apex has vacated the jail term handed down to Reverend King for attempted murder of five of his church members,
In his lead judgment, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta who described the facts of the case ”like what you see in a horror movie” said Reverend King’s appeal lacks any advantage.
Reverend King was challenging the judgment of a Lagos High Court sentencing him to death by hanging.
The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem, who appeared before the Supreme Court alongside Mrs Idowu Alakija, the Director of Public Prosecution and Other Senior Counsel in the state, urged the court to dismiss the appeal and uphold the judgment of the lower court.
Reverend King was arraigned on September 26, 2006 on a six-count charge of attempted murder and murder.
He pleaded not guilty to the allegations but was sentenced to death by the then Justice Joseph Oyewole of Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on January 11, 2007 for the murder of one of his church members named, Ann Uzoh.

COURT TO DECIDE METUH'S FATE BY 9TH OF MARCH.....
A Federal High Court will on March 9, 2016 decide the fate of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Olisa Metuh.
Justice Obong Abang said that he would either deliver judgment to
dismiss the charges against Mr Metuh and acquit him if he finds that he
has no case at all.
He said however, that he would in the alternative, deliver a ruling
ordering Mr Metuh to open his defence, if he finds out that he has a
case to answer.Justice Obong arrived at his decision after Mr Metuh filed documents and adopted same as his submission to prove that the EFCC has not made out any case against him.
Counsel to Mr Metuh, who at the last adjourned date, had gotten leave of the court to file his motion in writing, adopted same as his argument in urging the court to dismiss the charges against his client .
The prosecutor in his part also filed document countering the claims made by Metuh through his counsel Mr
SYLVANUS TAHIR, which explained that the evidence made out by the prosecution against Mr Metuh showed that he has a case to answer and that the court should compel him to do so.
